Jia Shuchen began his violin instruction at the age of seven. He received his Bachelor's degree from the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, where he studied with Prof Xie Nan.
During his studies, he has been a substitute violinist in the China National Symphony Orchestra, China Opera Symphony Orchestra, and China National Ballet of China Symphony Orchestra. He has participated in masterclasses with Igor Malinovsky, Rainer Küchl, Daniel Froschauer, and Christoph Poppen.
After his graduation, he became a Robert H. N. Ho Family Foundation Orchestral fellow of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra in 2011.
He joined the Hong Kong Sinfonietta as a violinist in 2012.
He Participated in numerous music festivals in Asia and Europe, including La Folle Journee au Japon, Tongyeong International Music Festival, Festival International de Piano La Roque d'Antheron, Beethoven Eater Festival. In 2018, he was invited to attend the Pacific Music Festival, as second violin principal touring around Japan with world-renowned conductor Valery Gergiev, who highly praised Jia's performance.

Apart from orchestra performance, Shuchen is also an active chamber musician and a dedicated educator.
